Family Leadership Institute 2023

Are you a grassroots justice reform advocate looking to develop your leadership skills and create positive change in your community? Justice for Families is offering a unique opportunity to attend the Family Leadership Institute, a life-changing training program designed to support and assist individuals seeking to improve outcomes for children and families impacted by the justice and/or child-welfare systems.

Thanks to the generous funding of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, scholarships are available to cover the cost of travel, meals, and lodging arrangements. This enables participants to fully focus on the training without worrying about expenses.

In addition to the comprehensive curriculum, the Family Leadership Institute provides peer-to-peer support and healing, coaching, and intensive training for grassroots justice reform advocates. The training is not just any program – it’s an experience that transforms participants both personally and professionally. The Institute equips attendees with the knowledge, skills, and connections to become effective leaders in their communities and drive change at the grassroots level.

This year’s Institute follows a curriculum entitled “Improving Outcomes by Partnering with Youth and Families” and is designed to assist and support individuals seeking to improve opportunities and outcomes for children who encounter the justice and/or child-welfare systems and their families.

Participants will be introduced to a robust framework, concrete skill-building tools, and effective strategies that enable families to hold systems accountable, lead the movement for fairness and opportunity for all communities, and ensure reform implementation and integrity. The program provides a safe space for participants to connect with like-minded individuals, brainstorm ideas, share valuable connections and resources, and build strong peer-to-peer relationships that are relied upon for support, ideas, and technical assistance.

To apply for the scholarship, please submit an application by Wednesday, April 5, 2023. We will announce scholarship recipients via email the week of April 17, 2023.
